Rev Larry Brown

Senior Pastor

Your position and role at Powell UMC; What are you passionate about? Senior Pastor. I am passionate about assisting others in experiencing and responding to the reality of God.

What is the favorite part of your job? Connecting with people through important moments in their lives. I also enjoy planning and leading worship experiences.

Family: I am married to Kelly and we have three children: Tarah, married to Ben Ballinger; Derek, married to Natalie; and Kevin, and a granddaughter, Nora.

Where are you from?I grew up in the central Ohio area and went to high school in Dayton, Ohio.

Ministry background, degrees, credentials: I have a Music Education degree from Otterbein University and a Master’s of Divinity degree from The Methodist Theological School in Ohio.

What are your hobbies? I enjoy watching movies, cooking, and playing music – primarily using guitar.

Your favorite quote or verse from the Bible: One of my favorite verses of scripture is Romans 8: 31, 35, and 37-39, “What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?… Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship,  or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What has God been teaching you lately? That the most important thing in living our lives is trusting God and not what we are able to accomplish or do.
