Patterns of Grace Devotionals

Daily Devotionals

Recently I’ve been struck with how anxious, divisive and unkind we humans can be.  And I don’t mean just the “other” folks who are different from me, but “my” folks who agree with me…and most of all I mean …”me”.  This devotional series is an attempt to remind them, us, and myself, that God’s grace covers everything and is totally undeserved by any and all of us.  And yet, God lavishly showers it down upon us hoping and planning that we will share it with all those around us creating a community of unity.

The other side of this coin is that as we grapple with what grace is and how profound it is in our lives, that we will recognize it with gratitude… with thankfulness.  And the stretch to being grateful can be an even longer stretch than the stretch to understand God’s grace.

I believe that there are patterns of grace and gratitude that we can observe and we can create in our own lives.  In this season of Eastertide from the high holy day of Easter to the holy day of Pentecost, I pray that we will find the humility to accept the grace offered to us and receive it with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and praise for the God who loves us.     Kim La Rue 3/17/21
